jack white + brendan benson = indie rock gold?

When two musicians that I admire come together and form a side project, I usually get excited. Yesterday I heard a track called Steady As She Goes on Indie 103 by a new band called The Raconteurs.

The song starts out with a bass line that's a total rip off of Is She Really Going Out With Him? But thankfully it swiftly evolves into some nice crunchy guitar rock.

I thought to myself, the singer sounds a lot like Jack White. Well, it was Jack White. It's a new collaboration between the White Stripes frontman and indie pop-rocker Brendan Benson.

There are mp3s located here. You can also stream their songs from the Raconteur website. I hope the upcoming album lives up to the hype. It's been compared to Nirvana's Nevermind--a comparison I highly doubt.

So, what's your favorite collaboration between different musicians? John Coltrane and Miles Davis come to my mind.

About

I guess you could say this is the "Original Pime". I stopped blogging here regularly in May 2008 (if you don't count the B-Sides diversion - yes it gets confusing) when I joined the Tumblr revolution. Going forward bravely into 2009, this site will serve to house any large image work I produce.

Peace out.
