for the first time in 47 years Fidel Castro has temporarily relinquished control of the Cuban state in order to undergo "intestinal surgery". His brother Raul has been appointed temporary president.

Yeah, right. The dude is probably already dead. As if a totalitarian banana republic would communicate the truth to its subjects. Now it's time to make a bet. Will things turn out the way I hypothesized last week? Or will Cuba continue to chug along inside its circular bubble of retro-communism.
