General George Washington crossed the river Delaware with a small army of 2,400 men to make a surprise attack on Hessian mercenaries stationed in Trenton, NJ.

Hence, The Battle of Trenton occured the very next day.

Why celebrate Jesus on December 25? I mean, we're not even sure the guy really existed. Let's celebrate George Washington instead.
