Americans don't care about futbol, so does the US team deserve to win? in my opinion, the cup should go to a nation that is truly passionate about the game. If the US can make it out alive from the "group of death" (i.e. Italy, Czech Republic and Ghana) then they deserve the proper accolades.
Futbol is not merely a competition, but a graceful art form, a spiritual experience, a performance for the gods. Brazil embodies this passion for the game which is why our household will be flying the Brazilian flag. Mi esposa would naturally root for El Salvador except they haven't made it to the World Cup in 24 years, at which they lost to Hungary 10-1 in the greatest margin of loss in World Cup history. Yeah, they suck badly.
